When to Rent a Dumpster

Have you questioned whether or not renting a dumpster makes sense for your project? It’s not uncommon to feel like a dumpster might be more than you need, especially if it’s a smaller home renovation, yard cleanup, or other residential DIY construction project. While you may be able to haul trash to the dump yourself, there are several scenarios where it may make more sense to rent a dumpster and let the dumpster rental company deal with the waste removal for you.

  1. If you’re doing a home renovation project that involves demolishing existing drywall, framing or cabinetry, a dumpster is a must. It will save you so much time and energy having somewhere to put all of the construction debris. This is especially important if you are removing appliances or other large items like cabinetry. Be sure to rent the dumpster for the entire duration of your project. No one wants trash and debris to accumulate and clog up a construction site; it’s best to take care of it on the spot.
  2. While many decluttering projects may just require a few trash bags, some home clean-out projects can snowball into a larger undertaking that could benefit from a dumpster. This is especially true if you have accumulated a lot of unwanted possessions over the years, are moving and need to downsize, or are cleaning out an estate. You don’t have to live with all of the junk in your garage anymore or worry about hauling it in a dozen truckfuls to the dump. Just rent a dumpster and start sorting.
  3. It’s unfortunate, but storms, flooding, and other disasters can cause property damage and huge messes. Make it a little easier for yourself by renting a dumpster and having somewhere to immediately dispose of anything that needs to go. Dumpsters can help remove anything from felled tree branches to ruined carpets, and everything in between.
  4. Large yard projects can definitely benefit from renting a dumpster. If you are landscaping your yard, you’ll want somewhere to put all of the tree trimmings, dirt, removed shrubs, and everything else that comes with the overhauling of your landscaping. The sooner you can get the waste removed, the sooner you can enjoy your new, beautifully landscaped yard.

In general, renting a dumpster makes sense when you have a large quantity of waste or debris that you need to get rid of, and you don’t want to have to deal with the hassle of disposing of it yourself. Many people don’t have a pickup truck readily available to haul away construction debris, and even if you do, repeated trips to the landfill are a pain. If your project will require more than one to two trips to the landfill with a pickup truck, or if you don’t have a truck at your disposal, then renting a dumpster is a great option. We have a wide variety of dumpster styles and sizes ranging from 20-yards all the way up to 40-yard dumpsters, which means we can support all types and sizes of projects.
