Construction Business Owner to Honor Outstanding Women

Construction Business Owner to Honor Outstanding Women

Construction Business Owner Magazine announced this week that they are accepting nominations for top females working in the construction industry so they can recognize and honor the important work women bring to the industry.

The National Association of Women in Construction says women currently, are 9.1 percent of the U.S. construction workforce, and earn an average 95.7 percent of what their male counterparts make, compared with the average 82 percent women earn of what their male counterparts make across industries.

According to NBC, the construction industry is expected to see 12 percent employment growth between 2016 and 2026, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and as the industry continues to face a worker shortage, many state legislators and professional organizations are doing all they can to bring more women into an industry packed with diverse opportunities and the potential to earn strong wages.

Construction Business Owner Magazine says it will be honoring some of the construction industry’s most hardworking construction professionals with a special section dedicated to Outstanding Women in Construction (OWIC). From general contractors to CEOs to specialty trade workers, they will showcase amazing female professionals advancing the construction industry.

They are asking individuals who work with a woman who makes the industry a better place to nominate her using a form on the Construction Business Owner website. Anyone can submit a nomination through Sept. 4, 2020. After nominations are closed, they will select finalists who will be featured in Construction Business Owner Magazine's print magazine and online later this year.

To be considered, a nominee must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a female of any age
  • Must work in construction (general contracting, subcontracting, specialty trades, and others allied to the field) in the United States
  • Must be respected by industry peers, leaders and clients
  • Must show outstanding skills, leadership and/or management
